About Jason Britten
Jason’s approach to counselling is to work together with the client to focus on their strengths, accepting their situation while uncovering what is less known, and working towards realistic solutions aligned with personal values. Jason desires to empower others to discover their own truths and create their own solutions to their life challenges. A diverse life experience, including more than a decade with the Australian Defence Force, working in the safari industry and anti-poaching operations in Tanzania, and caring for the land and wildlife in the Northern Territory as a Park Ranger, provided significant exposure to trial and challenge for Jason. His willingness to learn and find solutions, along with the determination to survive and thrive, saw him through a long period of difficult illness and recovery.
Bringing together all this lived experience with post graduate studies and training with calm groundeness that comes from experiencing great adversity and loss, offers distinct and unique counselling skills. Jason has a Graduate Diploma od Counselling and is continuing studies for a Master of Counselling at the University of Canberra. Jason has counselling experience in areas such as chronic illness, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, emotion, regulation and relationships with a special interest in men’s health and wellbeing. Jason prefers a person-centred approach utilising process-orientated psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Narrative Therapy.
Jason is a member of Holistic Therapists Australia.
